relay

I received a blog relay stick from Communicatiemannen, thanks guy's. but now I got to pass it on to some other bloggers in my blogroll (It has been on my todo list for quite some time to create one but now I'll definitely have to do it).

So my list of 7 blogs to pass the stick to are:

I received this one some time ago from a colleague of mine and indeed sometimes my wife complains that our dinner looks just like this.

Just kidding ;-), but I thought it was well worth publishing.

Do you need to put your source???

Category: ,

I'm writing posts on my blog now for about 15 months and reading a looooooot of other posts as my inspiration source and there is one thing that is really bothering me! Most of the time I read something interesting on a blog and a few hours or days later I find the same things on other blogs and almost never do I read the source of their information, something I always try to remember. It's only fair that you mention the writer of the original information you found. So like I said in the beginning of my post it's about 15 months that I blog and that's not so long, but could anybody tell me if that's common practice in the blogosphere to just take the information you read somewhere, rephrase it and just forget to mention the source of your information????

Is Metatale alive or just a living dead?

2

Category: , ,

Metatale should list the most influential Belgian blogs but does it really? If we look at their top 100 there are blogs that don't exist anymore or that don't have had a post since a long time.

blog.seniorennet.be/artistlover (does not exist anymore)
blog.seniorennet.be/lyalm (Asks for a password)
http://webwerkers.wordpress.com/ (last post 11/06/2007)
http://the-shadow-tigers.skynetblogs.be/ (last post 14/06/2007)
blog.seniorennet.be/martincarels (last post 23/07/2007)
little-lions.skynetblogs.be/ (last post 14/06/2007)
crapule-de-luxe.skynetblogs.be/ (last post 31/08/2007)
http://www.gazetvantienen.be/ (got a 404)

It all started really well but somewhere along the road it just stopped!!! They promised an update every week but I guess this didn't go trough neither. Does somebody know if they still want to make this thing work or did they simply give up?

Uniting Europe through the spirit of dance.

Yesterday evening I received this press release from Thomas Bannister of SX Mobile Media. "Europe United, a new music video from Samsung Mobile and SX Media has launched on Youtube and is the first ever truly democratic music video. Samsung and SX traveled to 10 European cities in 10 days -London, Paris, Berlin, Rome, Prague, Barcelona, Ibiza, Moscow, Edinburgh and Galway- to get ordinary people to dance in this street. Whoever made it into the final cut won a free Samsung phone." After viewing the Video, I thought it was really worth wile putting it on my blog, it became a nice project and summarizes perfectly the unity in Europe like they intended to, great work guys. SX Media is a ‘new media’ company, which produces shorter entertainment content.

Just found this impressive add on Illegal advertising, it's all about the fact that we shouldn't ignore that HIV positive people exist. It was created for the world aids day (1 December).

Blog action Day

Category: ,

Last week I got a friendly mail from Elizabeth from Edelman on Behalf of Brita water filters and I thought than well this mail is so nice that I will make it my post on Blog action Day. Brita is doing an action at the moment called Filter For Good.

filterforgood

This action is all about preserving the nature trough using filtered water instead of using bottles. You can take a pledge on their site, the pledge of not using bottled water for a certain amount of time but filtered water.
I know it all has an economical connotation but still I very much like the idea and will myself do the step of stop using bottles but use filters for my water.

A great and interesting evening.

Yesterday Geert Desager invited me to a dinner with Surya Vanka who's Microsoft's Design and Usability Training Manager. Am far of a Usability guy but still it where some really good conversations and I was very happy to meet him.

Next to Surya and Geert I met a whole lot of other people going from bloggers to creative directors to Microsoft evangelists. It was a great evening as the people around the table really had a totally different approach and view about every possible topic roaming the virtual world.

It's also nice to talk with competitors like Petra, Brice or Mark (which I was happy too meet again since we where colleagues some time ago) and to exchange idea's and thoughts. I only regret one thing, that the evening was far too short to talk to everybody at the table.

So Microsoft and especially Geert thanks again.

I took the liberty of using one of the pictures that Pietel took I hope he won't be too mad, he really took some nice pictures.

IAB Europe Congress, corporate blogging.

1

Category: ,

I just enjoyed a session about corporate blogging at the IAB europe congress. The most interesting speakers where Kris Hoet (Marketing manager at Microsoft, Blogger “Cross The Breeze”) and Mauro Lupi (CEO of Ad Maiora). There was a nice interaction between the audience and the panel and some interesting points like advertising on blogs where covered. Not that there are clear answers but anyway we got some guidelines to go with. One of the most interesting new links for me was the WOMMA (word of mouth marketing association) where you can find interesting articles like the ethical blogger contact guidelines. Another thing which was nice to hear is that other people read my blog (actually I knew that already but it’s a figure of speech). Kris Hoet told a story about a guy that found Google maps in a Microsoft campaign, everybody that follows what I write knows that it was one of my posts some time ago. Nice to hear that what I post it can become a case!!

Blog IAB Europe Congress

Category: , ,

Yesterday a colleague of mine has put the blog of the IAB Europe congress online. The concept behind the blog is the following, it's the purpose that some well known bloggers in the different European country's add their posts so that we'll have an overview of what's roaming in Europe about interactive marketing. More to come about the congress and all what's happening around it.

The Belgian Blog Awards.
